Do you have understanding, empathy and respect for the elderly and a genuine desire to befriend an isolated resident? Here is an opportunity to utilise your good communication skills, reliability, resilience, confidence to visit independently and some spare time.

The outlook of a successful volunteer needs to be non-judgemental and accepting of diversity in lifestyles, culture, religious views, gender preferences and disability. Initial orientation to the aged care environment or home, ongoing training and support is provided.

Be matched on a one-to-one basis with a resident with similar interests, or a small group of 2 - 3 residents, visit at least fortnightly, provide a link with the community, share interests and hobbies and show a genuine interest in the person.

This position is flexible as you can coordinate visiting times to fit with you and your resident. Positions are undertaken within the Mitchell Shire.
